RINGSCAFF at One of Formula 1’s Fastest Corners

At the legendary Stowe Corner, Formula 1 drivers brake from speeds of well over 300 km/h before entering one of the fastest corners of the Silverstone Circuit. Every thousandth of a second matters – and since the 2026 British Grand Prix, more than 16,000 motorsport fans have been able to experience the action from the new Lando Grandstand.

The permanently installed grandstand is one of the most significant additions to the historic race circuit and provides spectators with a unique view of the action at one of Formula 1’s most iconic locations.

Behind the scenes, Scafom-rux UK supplied the RINGSCAFF modular scaffolding system for the supporting substructure of the grandstand. From the initial planning stages through to installation, the Scafom-rux team worked closely with GL events UK to successfully deliver the project.

Months of preparation before the first component was installed

Long before the first standards and ledgers arrived at Silverstone Circuit, detailed planning was already underway. In October 2025, Scafom-rux began collaborating with GL events UK, supporting the project preparation several months ahead of the first material deliveries in February 2026.

Installation work started at the beginning of March. Over the following weeks, teams of 10 to 16 installers constructed the scaffolding structure. At the same time, material deliveries continued according to the project schedule, ensuring that all required components were available at the right place and at the right time.

Through close coordination, precise planning, and the flexibility of the RINGSCAFF system, Scafom-rux helped create a safe and reliable foundation for one of Silverstone’s newest spectator experiences.

More than a standard scaffolding package

For the supporting substructure of the Lando Grandstand, approximately 300 tonnes of RINGSCAFF material were used, consisting of around 40,000 individual components.

However, not every component came from the standard product range. The curved design of the grandstand and the complexity of the structure required a wide range of project-specific solutions, including specially manufactured components developed specifically for this application.

To further simplify the installation process on site, Scafom-rux also supplied colour-coded components. This enabled the installation teams to quickly identify specific parts during assembly and integrate them efficiently into the structure.

The result was a customised material package precisely tailored to the requirements of the project – supporting one of the largest grandstand projects to have been delivered at Silverstone Circuit in recent years.

A grandstand built for the future

Unlike many temporary event structures that are only installed for a single race weekend, the Lando Grandstand was designed as a permanent addition to the Silverstone Circuit. The new grandstand at Stowe Corner can also be extended in the future if required.

Even before the British Grand Prix weekend, the scale of the new structure attracted attention from visitors around the circuit.

Following the completion of the 2026 British Grand Prix, the Lando Grandstand has become a permanent feature of the Silverstone Circuit.
