Over 40 m span, 3,500 m² coverage: MULTI-ROOF in Berlin

In a historic industrial site in Berlin, a full roof refurbishment is underway on a structure shaped by decades of temporary repairs. To keep the works progressing regardless of weather conditions, Schaarschmidt Gerüste GmbH installed a large-scale MULTI-ROOF system, creating a 3,500 m² weather protection cover with spans of over 40 metres — all without additional support beams.

The system was selected primarily for its ability to create large, clear spans while maintaining a high degree of flexibility during installation. As project manager Dirk Masche explains, the decisive factor was the system’s performance under real site conditions: “This property was crucial for the selection of the system.”

The decision for a freestanding solution with approximately 130 tonnes of ballast also allowed the structure to be implemented without relying on extensive modifications to the existing building. At the same time, the combination of ground-assembled roof cassettes and system integration with RINGSCAFF components enabled efficient adaptation to the construction sequence.
